Born and raised in Palo Alto, CA, Caroline graduated from Stanford University in 1999 and completed a Culinary Arts degree at the California Culinary Academy in 2005. Caroline works as a technical writer for a software company in downtown San Francisco, and develops web sites on the side, including www.rothrealestate.net.

Caroline currently lives and cooks in the Mission Dolores neighborhood of San Francisco with her husband, Andrew, and their cat, Hobbes. In addition to her work on www.sanfranciscofoodie.com, Caroline writes restaurant reviews and other foodie-related articles for SallysPlace.com and Bay Family Digest magazine, and is working on a book that documents her culinary school experience.
